Keelung Islet
Keelung Islet pic

Keelung Islet is an easy-to-find islet outside Keelung City. One will see the islet from Keelung, the north coast or northeastern coast, which makes it an important landmark of Keelung. When you exit the highway at Daye Tunnel, you will see the islet formed by volcano, where there is no plain land but steep cliff. Depending on the weather and your location, the islet shows several beautiful scenes. When the day is clear, you will see a clear picture of this volcanic island; when the light is dim, the islet shows a mysterious charm.

Keelung Harbor-Harbor Tour and Tern Watching:
1.Transportation Information:Take the ferry at Keelung Harbor which runs every hour from 10:00 to 21:00. Fares are NT$250 (adult),$ NT$200 (discount) and NT$150 (child). Completed in 1967, Guanghua Tower was formerly a place where the Keelung Harbor Bureau received important guests. In order to promote marine tourism in Keelung, the lighthouse was transformed into a cafe for business discussions, family reunions and lover rendezvous in October 2000 by Youcai Company. This is the first and only ‘lighthouse cafe’ in Taiwan. The scenery from the lighthouse differs at different times of the day and from different angles inside the lighthouse. Moreover, visitors can see vessels coming in and out of Keeling Harbor in front of them.

2.In February and March of every year, flocks of Chinese crested terns gather in the near waters and at sea walls near the lighthouse. Together with the vessels coming into Keelung Harbor and Guanghua Tower, they form the perfect match of modern industry and nature.
